Sitgestiu 2025 reaches 91% occupancy with 38 activities in 26 days and reaffirms the cultural success of the Sitges Museums

The Sitges Museums close the summer with a very positive balance, as Sitgestiu 2025 has once again confirmed itself as one of the great cultural events of the months of July and August in the town, with 91% occupancy of the available places, and a total of 1,687 people attending, 9.7% more than in 2024. This cycle, organized by the Sitges Heritage Consortium and the town's City Council, has presented 22 different proposals this year, which have translated into 38 activities spread over 26 days of intense cultural programming.

A diverse program with great public response

The Sitgestiu lineup for this 2025 has managed to combine culture, heritage, music, experiences and family activities, and has reached very diverse audiences.

Classical music with the four concerts at Racó de la Calma with award-winning artists at the 29th Josep Mirabent Magrans Chamber Music and Singing Competition, organized by the Concertante Association in collaboration with the Sitges City Council, brought together 284 people, while the two Jazz concerts at the Mirador del Museu de Maricel and the two sessions of the Festa Major Jazz, by the Retrio group, the heralds of this year's Festa Major, brought together up to 320 people.

Opera has also had its weight in this edition of Sitgestiu with the two performances of Tosca in pocket format at the Saló d'Or of the Palau de Maricel with 188 spectators, while the Ópera a la fresca at Racó de la Calma brought together up to 103 people.

As for the night experiences, the Full Moon Sunsets at the Maricel Complex brought together 123 participants and the Modernist Night Walk added 42, while the heritage guided tours brought together up to 104 people.

Sensory experiences such as the Aroma Walk at the Maricel Palace (74 people) and the innovative Aroma Concert (85) in the Gothic Room of the Maricel Museum, and the closing with the Outdoor Music and Wine Pairing with the Scherzo Women's Choir at Racó de la Calma, with the attendance of 57 people, have offered a dialogue between culture, music and gastronomy.

The family workshops, with 183 participants in the five proposals presented, have been one of the most valued activities, with a special mention for the premiere of the show “Let’s Play Mozart’s Magic Flute” by the Petita Companyia Lírica de Barcelona in the Sala Gòtica of the Maricel Museum.

Finally, the session with the Festival de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya in Racó de la Calma gathered 91 spectators.

Stability of the public in the Museums

Beyond Sitgestiu, the Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museums have received visits from 10,118 people during the months of July and August, while guided tours of the Palau de Maricel have added 1,296 attendees. The Stämpfli Foundation - Contemporary Art has contributed the figure of 185 visitors.

Regarding the set of temporary exhibitions this summer, ‘The Praise of Drawing. The Manuel Puig Collection' in the Sala Vaixells of the Palau de Maricel and the small-format exhibition 'New acquisitions for new stories. The National Collection 2024' in the Sala de Can Rocamora of the Museu de Maricel have been visited by a total of 3,623 people.

Thus, the Sitges Museums close the season of July and August with a Sitgestiu fully consolidated as a major cultural summer event with 1,687 attendees, and a stable audience in their facilities of 15,222 people.
