Sitgestiu 2023 has scheduled 32 cultural activities arranged around different formats filling the July and August agenda. Opera recitals, classical and jazz concerts, castanet auditions, heritage tours, guided tours, cinema, sensory experiences, wine tourism dinners and family workshops make up an intense and diverse program aimed at both locals and tourists.
Sitgestiu is the Sitges Museums’s cultural program for the summer months. With a stable format, but with new additions in each edition, it convenes events of a different format in heritage environments, both the Cau Ferrat and Maricel museums as well as the Palau de Maricel and the Stämpfli Foundation, as well as exceptionally, some other space , like the Vinyet sanctuary this year.
Sitgestiu 2023 begins Monday, July 3, with one of the stellar activities in its calendar: the full moon sunsets, a tour of Maricel under the spell of the moon, which will be repeated on the 1st and 31st August, the latter with a dinner on the Palau's nineteenth-century terraces.
The second activity will be on Wednesday 5th at Racó de la Calma, with the first of the four scheduled classical concerts. The soprano Maria Martín and the pianist Leyre Sáenz de Urturi will star in this first concert at the Racó. The others will be performed by Trio Kòrena (July 12), Mezzo Quartet (July 19) and singer Guillem Batllori and pianist Elena Kolesnikova (July 26).
Music is also a protagonist with the opera: on July 9th at the Palau de Maricel there is a recital scheduled with classics of universal opera, such as Verdi, Puccini or Bizet, and on July 23rd and August 20th will representTosca. Other recitals are the Festa Major concert at Racó de la Calma, with Retrio (August 16) and the Jazz concert at Cau Ferrat (August 29).
Heritage routes are one of the highlights of Sitgestiu 2023. There are some scheduled by the Palau de Maricel in different formats (night and with castanets recital), by the three museums, by the Stämpfli Foundation, the Vinyet sanctuary and next comes the Picasso and Sitges route.
In addition, the program presents different experiences, such as an olfactory workshop to discover the essence of Modernism (Monday, July 10 and August 21), a sensory workshop to "breathe paintings" (Thursday, July 27), a pairing of art and wines (Friday 4 August) a tasting of the Seafaring Sitges, accompanied by a visit to the works of the Luminist School at the Maricel Museum (Monday 7 August). There is also a film screening (Sunday, August 13).
The family audience also has a place in Sitgestiu; with three workshops: We paint the glasses (Thursday, July 6), Picasso’s blues and Rusiñol’s blues of Rusiñol (Thursday July 13 and August 3),The magic in yours hands (Thursday, August 10) and Festa Major on the shirt (Thursday August 17).
