Routes, dance, music and dialogues pack the agenda of the International Day of Museums
The International Day of Museums will be hosted this year with full intensity at Sitges Museums. The agenda includes different activities, including routes, visits, dialogues, family workshops, concerts and dance shows. All activities are free.
May 18 is International Day of Museums. All over the world, museums celebrate this day with different proposals aimed at attracting the public and bringing the collections closer to the population as a whole. In Sitges too. This year, the program prepared by Sitges Museums presents different activities, intended to present the heritage spaces and their collections from different perspectives.
The International Day of Museums program will have two open days at the Cau Ferrat and Maricel museums, on Thursday 18 and Sunday 21. On this day, the Stämpfli Foundation will also have free access. The previous Saturday, there will be another route, in this case, at night and through Palau de Maricel. The event will allow you to visit the different rooms, the cloister and the terraces at sunset and at night, while in the Racó de la Calma arias are played to accompany you.
The International Day of Museums also means the premiere of a new route through our museums. This is the guided tour of the Maricel Museum, under a feminist perspective, which starts from the same experience carried out at the Cau Ferrat Museum. Núria Araüna, Alba López and Andrea Sánchez carry out this new proposal, which will be held for the first time on Saturday 20. The day before, Ignasi Domènech, head of Sitges Museum Collections, and Ferran Martínez Sancho, exhibition coordinator from the Stämpfli Foundation, will discuss the work exchange program The visitor.
Music and dance also have space in the program. The live arts show Placemakers, by the Institute of the Arts of Barcelona (IAB), will offer a recital at the Racó de la Calma, Saturday 20. The agenda also includes a children's workshop, in this case at Escola Pia, working jointly with the AFA from the center of town, children will build a million dollar game.
