Museus de Sitges is committed to guided tours and open doors on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, which are celebrated throughout the country between October 13 and 15. The European Heritage Days are an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission that has been held uninterruptedly in Catalonia – promoted by the Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency – since 1991 and is considered the largest participatory activity in Europe in relation to cultural heritage.
This year, the European Heritage Days have as their motto, throughout Catalonia, Patrimoni viu (Living Heritage), referring to the practices, knowledge and skills that are transmitted from generation to generation, and that are currently still maintained. Along these lines, Museus de Sitges has programmed four activities aimed at different profiles and that seek to bring heritage closer to the general public.
The program (see below) includes two guided visits on Saturday the 14th: to the Maricel Museum, in a feminist key - on a route launched last May and that aims to carry out a reading of the museum's collections in a gender key - and in the exhibition Els museus creixen (Museums grow), which ends the next day.
Precisely, on the 15th there will be open doors at the Cau Ferrat and Maricel museums, as well as the Stämpfli Foundation and the Maricel Palace (in this case, with guided tours at predetermined times). The program will begin on Thursday the 12th with a family workshop on the occasion of the Film Festival.
